Easing Into 2026: Reflections & Events ✨

January 11, 2026

Hello Reader! How are you?

I find myself still easing into the new year. It's been a much slower process this time, for several reasons. Immediately after Christmas, I started clearing closets and letting go of what no longer fits. But then I travelled over the new year and lost some momentum. By the time I returned, life had shifted.

In addition to my professional role at work, I was elected to a culture committee and had been teaching yoga, breathwork, and meditation as part of a new wellness initiative. It felt meaningful to contribute in that way — to support my colleagues, to bring a little calm into the fast-paced, meeting-filled workdays — and to work alongside my fellow elected colleagues on other culture-building changes and programs.

Then, suddenly, at the start of the year, everything shifted.

Our organization went through a rapid RIF, and a third of the workforce was eliminated in the span of a week. It was disorienting and heavy. It shifted the energy I typically carry into the new year. Everything felt more tender and a little more uncertain. It was another reminder of how quickly the ground can move beneath us.

I normally enter January with rapid-fire momentum, fueled by inspiration. This year, I'm tapped.

Even in a season that feels tender and uncertain, I’m finding small ways to root back into the things I'm passionate about. One of those ways is creating intentional and meaninful spaces for practice.

Quote I'm pondering . . .

In each newsletter I share a quote, reference or research —something that’s been shaping how I think and/or teach.

As I move into a new year, I enjoy taking time to look back — not with pressure or perfectionism, but with curiosity. What supported me? What stretched me? What softened me? What surprised me?

As part of that process, I found this:

“Now is no time to think of what you do not have. Think of what you can do with what there is.” — Ernest Hemingway

There’s something steadying about that perspective.

A reminder to work with what’s here — the energy we have, the resources we have, the time we have, the body we have.

A reminder that growth doesn’t necessarily require more. But it does require awareness. Presence. It requires noticing what’s already in our hands and choosing to move forward from there.

As I look ahead, I’m carrying this with me:

How about you? I'd love to hear from you. What's going on? What are you seeking? Can I help? Hit reply and let me know.

I hope to see you real soon.

Many blessings,
